Many land mobile radios require a license to operate, which means the FCC must allocate a specific frequency to the radios. It does not mean anyone who uses the radio needs to register or take a test, but your Icom dealer will need to apply for frequencies for you to operate the radios on. The license is for a business or entity. Radios that require a license may operate on a radio system with repeaters, which can be complex to set up and test.

Depending on the use case, business radios require a specific amount of programming. Your dealer will typically handle all the programming, no need to worry. Some online dealerships allow you to choose what type of frequencies you desire, or you can use previous programming configurations if you have ordered from them before.

The Federal Communications Commission requires a qualified technician to program frequencies. Hence, the dealer programs all radios. However, because MURS radios operate on five specific frequencies and are license-free, they can be programmed by a dealer or yourself.

Programming software is essential to MURS radio customization. Customize channel encryption, turn on safety features, or utilize VOX hands-free operation depending on the models. These radios can come to you pre-programmed with basic functionality.

Many Icom radios see constant use in construction sites, retail stores, schools, and more. It is no stranger to drops, tires, mud, and water. Most of our radios have a high IP rating to keep up with daily use. Suppose a radio on a construction site constantly falls and bangs against objects daily. In that case, it might have a shorter lifespan than a radio in a school.

Thank you for purchasing an Icom radio. Icom is proud to offer a warranty on our radios. Complete the following registration information, so that in the rare case you require service, we will know who you are. For accessories including batteries, antennas, etc. please retain a copy of your receipt in the event that your product needs warranty service or replacement, as they cannot be registered online.

Most business radios aren't ready to use out-of-the-box. So radio programming is needed to set the frequencies in the radio. For some radios the frequencies can be set through a menu interface. While other radios must be programmed using a PC, radio software, and a cable to connect the radios.

Our Click2Tune for ICOM system provided you with complete and reliable control. It transmits a low power carrier (user selectable level on some radios) without any need to change the mode and for as long as you press the button - YOU are in control. We worked hard on getting the ergonomics right so that it sits nicely in your hand and we even trialled three types of buttons before we found one that had the right size and "feel". We also made it look good to fit in with your shack. It's a great accessory for any ICOM radio that supports their auto-tuner. Tested on: IC-7300, IC-7600 (ant. 1), IC-7600, IC-7610, IC-7100, IC-730, IC-746 (ant. 1), IC-9100 (ant. 1), IC-706 (all variants), IC-703, IC-746. See below for further information on compatibility.

Please note: using the Click2Tune usually disables the radio's internal tuner. The Click2Tune is connected to the radio's external tuner interface. When you press the button, it is equivalent to an external tuner initiating a tune sequence, which causes the radio to produce a low power signal suitable for tuning. However, since the radio thinks there is an external tuner connected, it will normally disable the internal tuner (may vary between radios though).

If your ICOM radio has a socket like this on the back, the Click2Tune will almost certainly work with it. Different radios will have the socket in different positions on the back panel.

Icom radios marked " Made in China" or made in another country are 100% fake.* Accessories such as batteries, chargers, microphones and other items can be made in other countries.

ICOM IC-SAT100 PTT Satellite RadioThe ICOM IC-SAT100 operates via SATELLITE PTT (Push-To-Talk), which is a two-way radio system that uses the Iridium satellite network. It can be used as a communication tool in remote, isolated areas where there is no mobile phone or landline network infrastructure. Even if terrestrial network infrastructure is rendered unusable by human or natural disasters, SATELLITE PTT can provide a stable back-up, independent from other networks. Additionally, unlike satellite phones, IC-SAT100 users can immediately start talking to all the radios in the same talkgroup, with just a push of the transmit (PTT) button.

Win4IcomSuite is a comprehensive control package for the Icom IC-7100, IC-7300, IC-7610, IC-7600, IC-7700, IC-7850/51, IC-9700, IC-705 with more radios to follow. It includes support for the built in Spectrum Scopes of the Icom radios as well as the SDRPlay RSP devices. Win4IcomSuite has 6 virtual radios built in that can interface to any third party software programs including HRDLogbook, DM780, DXLab Suite, N1MM+, Log4OM, and many more.

I think what these hams are really trying to express is that they find it hard to believe someone would be debating the purchase of one of the two radios in question. To them, the choice is crystal clear.

In the case of the Xiegu X6100 and the Icom IC-705, from my point of view, these radios are in completely different leagues performance-wise, but they both share the same market: portable operators who want a true portable SDR transceiver experience.

The IC705 is direct sampling tech, the X6100 is old IF. But my main problem with the X6100 is the tuning. It is either way to slow or way to fast. The upgrade did add 10Hz tuning. Have to turn the tuning knob many times to get anywhere. Also the band scope does not track the tuning well, it lags so when trying to tune to a station can just go thru it if using the band scope as a guide. IC705 works much much better. I am not sure if this can be fixed in software. The tuning steps and rate can, but the band scope is more difficult. If use for tuning to stations without a band scope one will not see this, but the IC7300, IC7610 and IC705 spoiled me with their nice band scope especially being able to set the band width, from +/-2.5kHz to +/-400kHz in many steps. The X6100 now is fixed to either +/-50 or 100 kHz. During like Field Day with stations every 1kHz nice to have very narrow scope. The Icom band scope are the most advanced I have seen although I am sure other new rigs have good ones like the FTDX101.

At the present time while this rig is under warranty, they just exchange it for a new one, but when these radios get beyond the 1st year and have problems there are going to be some very unhappy owners out there.

All great information above. Thanks for taking the time to post it.After doing my extensive research on both the IC-705 and the Xiegu X6100 and listening to everything you said about both radios, I knew the IC-705 would be the best choice. Three weeks ago I ordered and received my IC-705. What a great radio.I felt the X6100 had too many short comings. The following web page are some of my comments pertaining to my IC-705.

The Traditional Icom right -angle 2-pin Connector, it has a spacing gap of 10mm between the large pin and smaller and 2 retraining screws connector. These will only wok on the Icom radio, these work on a majority of the Icom radios on the market, except for the new F1000 and F2000 series.

The IC-F1000 and IC-F2000 series connector will work on all Icom 2-pin connectors. They are the same as the original 2-pin connector, with the same spacing and TX and RX configuration, but with a rounder locking mechanism, to work on the new F1000 and F2000 radios. 041b061a72
